ISO 14001 - Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
ISO 14001 is an international standard based on managing and wherever possible reducing the environmental impact of your organisations operations. It involves analysing your operations to identify any environmental aspects e.g. emissions to atmosphere from vehicles or machinery or waste water from a manufacturing process, and conducting a risk assessment to assess impact and identify controls or changes to processes or materials that could result in reducing the impact of a particular environmental aspect.
Impementing ISO 14001 can be highly beneficial for any organisation as it usually results in process improvements and if done correctly can often result in an economical benifit in addition to the environmental and ecological benefits. It also demonstrates your commitment to your customers, suppliers, and business peers and can give you a competitive edge over your competitors.
